WPIO Radio Interview
with Brenda Kelly

Q: How many times have you been told you can't do this or gotten rejections?

A: Rejection is a huge part of this business. Eventually you get to the point where you just don't take it personal anymore.

Q: So you deal with it?

A: Exactly. For every 8 rejections I'll have a successful publication and that's what I strive for. This is an entertainment business and it's tough. If you become a writer who dedicates yourself to it, anything is possible. God makes anything possible.

Q: I'm a firm believe that staying focused makes people successful. Is that something you believe?

A: It's so hard to get published that when you do, it's so exciting. It's the challenge that drives me.

Q: So when you get where you are, most people don't realize what you have gone through to get there? They see success and have no clue.

A: That's so true.

Q: People really relate to the stories that you write, especially the short stories. They have had something similar happen to them, or perhaps someone they know. Wouldn't you agree?

A: Life is full of these little moments, these lessons we learn by our experiences.

Q: But either you get the lesson or you don't?

A: I hope most of us get what life's all about.

Q: There is a kindness in your stories that shines through. They are light, yet, they always carry a heavy message. Wouldn't you agree?

A: That's an amazing compliment. Thank you.

Q: When you can educate people to step out in faith the way you do, you are really helping so many. Do you get feedback?

A: Yes, I get emails and hear from fans that tell me my stories have touched them. I always try to write back to as many as possible and thank them for taking the time to let me know.

Jamison

This young adult novel combines baseball with a strong and interesting plot to make for a good read, even for this not so young adult reviewer. Debra Jamison is in a new town, trying to fit in, but also she has a dream. She wants to play on her school's baseball team. It sounds like a simple dream, and she's good enough to play with the guys, but things pop up that make the fulfillment of her dream more difficult. If you like great baseball stories with other elements thrown in to make things even more interesting, then this is a must read for you!
